Hola de México

Hola de México!!! That’s right, I moved to Mexico…ok not exactly, but it feels that way.  My husband and i have been looking for a new place for quite sometime.  Our prayer was that we would have a peace about the new place and that it would be quick and painless.  It was quick alright…we visited the apartment on monday…an hour later we found ourselves signing papers and being handed a set of keys.  whaaa??? We were so shocked and overwhelmed as to how fast it had gone…Tuesday we moved everything in and today I only have a few things to unpack.  Now for the painless part…not so much. Wednesday morning my arms felt like jello from all the heavy lifting the previous day.  Other that noodle arms…its been pretty painless.  We are so thankful!!!

Why the Spanish you ask?  Well, in the south there are a lot of Spanish speaking individuals and since we live not to far from Mexico’s front door, spanish is very prominent in certain areas of the city…one of those areas being the one I just moved to.  Living in Mexico for 3 months was probably a good thing!
Any who…its been so long since I’ve written last! I can’t believe it…well actually I can…without looking back, I don’t even remember how many days I’ve been juicing. I do remember weighing myself Monday morning. I had lost 2lbs since I started juicing. Which I have continued doing despite all the chaos around here. However, since my scale is no longer in the weighing business I will have to go buy a new one 😦  I am only 6 pounds away from my pre-baby weight!!! So excited…however since my hips widened during those blissful 9 months, my clothes still don’t fit the same.
Well that’s all I have for today…
Adiós friends!

Day two…a huge success!!!!

What a crazy busy day!  From apartment hunting to accomplishing my running goal…it has been non-stop!  Despite all the craziness, I was able to stick to my juicing diet. It went really well today. I drank my first juice at 9am and never felt hungry until 1pm, when I made my second juice. I don’t know what it is but I always feel hungry from about 4-9pm.  I did have a salad with feta cheese for dinner and some crackers.  I’ve done really well sticking to water and green tea throughout the day.
I’ve been headache free and actually enjoying the juices.  The juice I had this afternoon was a bit tough to get down but the more I drank, the easier it was to drink.  I am so looking forward to tomorrow.  Like I said earlier, the third day is the hardest day…but I think eating some solid foods is help…not to mention my greatest addictions have been broken.  Now I am fighting my sweet tooth.
Well as promised, I have included a full body photo…I know, I know…it’s not the best picture…but I really do avoid my picture being taken.  So this is my most recent…and believe me I still look that same.   I’ve never been so excited to lose weight AND get healthy!  Image

Day one…complete!

Day one has been a great start. I woke up, made a green juice that was full of kale, celery, romaine leaves, spinach, cucumber, lemon and an apple.  It wasn’t to bad considering i can’t stand to eat anything in that juice besides the apple and lemon.  I did cheat last night and try out my new juicer…I couldn’t help it! I made a simple juice with carrots, apples, ginger and a Lemon. It was delicious. The downside of today…I have had a massive headache all day long!!! I woke up with it. It’s one of those that any sudden move you make, the pounding is so hard you can hardly keep your eyes open.  Darn you coffee and tea…Its been 3 days of no coffee or tea…told you I was addicted.  I’d suggest breaking the addiction first then start juicing. Because having a massive headache while being hungry equals one unhappy momma.

So…day one…complete! On to day two…then day three, which I hear is the toughest day.  I’m going to get a picture on here hopefully tomorrow.  I know before and after pictures are the best way to see results…so no matter how much I dislike full body photos, I’m going to do it!

Nature’s Juice

It has been a non-stop busy day…but a very productive one!  Not only did I receive the juicer, I also got all produce as planned and better yet, I stayed with in my budget.  I am so excited to begin.

Starting tomorrow I will be juicing twice a day.  Once for breakfast and the second for lunch. For dinner I am going to eat a small,  healthy dinner.  Probably a salad or other carb/sugar free meal.  I still haven’t cracked down and bought a juicing book.  I’m still searching the web to find juicing recipes. Though I am sure a book would allow more time and energy for other things…like juicing 🙂

Let The Juicing Begin

Tomorrow is the big day.

Yes, I am getting a juicer! Someone is graciously blessing me with a juicer. I am so grateful for this special person and her generosity.  I have been avidly researching juice recipes. Making my grocery list of vegetables and fruits. I am told juicing is quite pricy, so my plan is to start off by doing only two juices a day.  I plan to eat salads and fruit while juicing.
Ever since I watched “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”, I have been more aware about what I eat and what I feed my family.  I started off wanting to juice to lose weight, (don’t get me wrong, I still am expecting to lose weight) but now it’s more than that. Now I want to do it so I’ll sleep better, have more energy and a healthier digestive tract…I know TMI, but we all deal with it, don’t we?
So what’s my grocery list look like? Everything green!
1 bunch of Broccoli
3 Cucumbers
1 Romaine lettuce
1 Swiss chard
4 bags of Carrots
2 Beets
Ginger (a good size one since its used in lot’s of my juices)
4 Oranges
7-10 Green apples (whatever the special is)
Red delicious apples (I won’t get to many of these since they are high in sugar)
Lemons (depends on the special)
I have a feeling my grocery list will be adjusted between now and tomorrow, depending on the recipes I find.
I would like to make a note… Apples and strawberries are the two fruits that are  recommended to buy organic.  They are highly sprayed with pesticides.  Because I am on a tight budget, I don’t plan to buy all my produce organic, however, apples I will try to strictly buy organic.
Since I am aiming to lose weight, I will be posting weekly updates on pounds lost along with an occasional photo or two.  I also plan to give daily updates on my juicing experience.  I’ll share my thoughts, recommendations, struggles, fears and tears throughout my journey.
Until next time,
Happy Reading!

Something’s Gotta Give

Ok, I have a confession to make.

 I have an addiction.
I know I know, I’m just as shocked as you are.  It just makes me feel so good. The anticipation of making it and then taking it in sends an exciting, tingly feeling throughout my tastes buds…that’s right I’m a teaholic.  I love sweet tea! I gave up diet coke because of the aspartame used to sweeten it. Actually, my husband convinced me to give it up because of how bad it is for my body.  So, instead, I replaced it with sweet tea…not good! It’s so full of sugar.
You know, that sweet, yummy goodness that’s used in almost everything to make it taste oh so good.  If I’m honest with myself, and all of you, I’m addicted to food! Not just sweet tea…put me in a kitchen and it’s like putting an alcoholic who’s trying to quit drinking in a bar.  Am I right?
Something’s gotta give. I’m tired of being the chubby girl.  What I really want, is to walk in a room and take my husbands breath away. Is that a bad thing? I know he loves me and tells me I’m beautiful, but you know what I’m talking about. Every woman’s dream…you walk in a room in that beautiful dress you’ve been eyeing and when your husband sees you, he stops what he’s doing and just stares at you…and then when he tries to say something, he can’t…he has no words.
I want to be able to run a marathon with my husband and keep up with him!
Why is this such a battle. It’s like my heart, my mind, and my cravings argue with each other. What’s a girl to do?
Genesis 2:9 says “And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.  The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
That first part gets me.  “And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food…”. If God says its good, then shouldn’t it be good? And if God says its pleasant to look at, then shouldn’t we feel the same?  Our taste buds, cravings and brains have been corrupted by all the artificially processed food that we’ve grown accustomed to.  So much so, that the very food God intended for us to eat disgusts us.
Recently, I have begun researching Juicing.  A lot of you might have heard of the documentary “Sick, Fat, and Nearly Dead”.   Well, let me tell you, if you haven’t already seen it, you ought to.  It has changed my take on fruits and veggies.  I’m still trying to convince my husband to let me get a juicer.  His concern?  He doesn’t think I’ll stick to it and it costs to much money to invest for me to just give up.  I can’t blame him. But, I want it so badly!  I had my first juice yesterday.  It was so delicious! There were FOUR whole carrots in them. Not those little ones your mom packs in your lunch box, but the really long ones you see Bugs Bunny eating.  I’m convinced I’ll stick to it!
Say a prayer he’ll say yes! I’ll keep you posted!

My Weight Loss Journey

Seven months ago I had the most rewarding experience happen to me…I gave birth to my beautiful little boy. I love him more than I could ever imagine.  Having him really opened my eyes as to how much God must love us.  Well, along with this greatest experience of my life, I gained an unwanted 40 pounds. I’ve lost all but 15 pounds, thanks to nursing. However, after 5 weeks of nursing my sweet baby couldn’t anymore (I cried for days).  Once I quit nursing, I also quit losing weight. It’s been a struggle ever since to lose those unwanted 15 pounds.  My over all goal is to lose a total of 50 pounds by October 28th...my 2 year anniversary!  I will be blogging as often as possible and once a week I’ll post my weigh-in.
